Gergana Aleksova-Velikova holds a Master's degree in “European Union Law” and “Journalism” from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, where she studied “Economics and Finance”.
From 2022 to 2025 she was Chief Expert Associate at the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation and the Committee on Transport and Communications at the National Assembly. From 2019 to 2022, she worked at the National Railway Infrastructure Company, where she held the position of Deputy Director-General. She was Deputy Chair of the Management Board of the Orient-Eastern Mediterranean Transport Corridor.
Gergana Aleksova-Velikova was Secretary-General of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Council of Ministers. During the period 2014 – 2016, she held the position of State Expert at the Ministry of Justice, where she worked on the Cooperation and Evaluation Mechanism of the European Commission.
During the period 2007 – 2015, she was a councillor at the Sofia City Council, and a member of the Privatization Funds Management Council in Sofia. She was a member of the Management Board of the Institute for Social Integration. She has held leadership positions in Public Relations and Marketing in the private sector. She began her professional career at Darik Radio.
