MLSP ALLOCATES UP TO BGN 8000 FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF VEHICLES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIE
Up to BGN 8,000 to fund projects for reconstruction of vehicles for people with permanent disabilities will be provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy under the National Programme for Accessible Residential Environment and Personal Mobility. The selection of project proposals under the two components of the programme starts today and will end on May 12th.
The added value of each project proposal under the Personal Mobility component will be determined on the basis of documents containing the technical and financial parameters for the necessary modification of the structure of the vehicle. Applicants who do not currently have a driving licence will also receive funding for a driving licence course. People with permanent disabilities and motor deficiency of lower and/or upper limbs proven by a decision of the medical examining board, who have a proof of being physically fit to be vehicle drivers, are entitled to apply under the programme, and the modification of the structure of the vehicle will be permissible if evidenced by an opinion from a technical service centre.
The first component will enable applicants to make their residential environment accessible to people with disabilities. Between BGN 10,000 and BGN 100,000 will be allocated for construction and installation works aimed at the construction of ramps, underground platforms and elevators. Owners of individual residential buildings who are permanently disabled, use a wheelchair or in whose family there is a disabled person will be able to apply under the Accessible Residential Environment component. Project proposals may also be submitted by co-ownership associations in residential buildings where there is a permanently disabled person using a wheelchair or in whose family there is a disabled person.
