MINISTER DENITSA SACHEVA: MLSP WILL DEVELOP A STRATEGY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES IN THE SOCIAL SECTOR

"MLSP will develop a strategy for human resources in the social sector. Vocational education in this field needs to be demonstrated, with candidates being represented twice in recent years. ” This was stated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva at a working meeting with representatives of general and specialized institutions for small persons with dementia.

She stressed that she would push for an increase in the salaries of social workers. There are 1356 social services in Bulgaria and the exchange of experience and good practices between them is very important. At the same time, municipalities need to strengthen their control functions, the minister said. "The social sector will be among the fastest growing throughout the European Union. Over the last 5 years, over 10 million people have been involved in social activities. We have to show that this is a profession, first and foremost, related to humanity, ”said Denitsa Sacheva.

During the meeting, a project on long-term care for adults and people with disabilities was presented, which is being implemented under the Operational Program "Human Resources Development". The main objective of the project is to prepare for the removal of people with mental disorders and mental retardation from 10 specialized institutions to be closed. Individual needs assessments will be made to all users of the institutions. The project partners are the eleven state psychiatric hospitals in the country. It is expected to continue until the end of 2022.
