Deputy Minister Rusinova: Joint actions between institutions and the civil sector are important in dealing with victims

The right recipe for achieving good results in dealing with victims of trafficking and violence is working together between the civil sector, local authorities, institutions. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy Zornitsa Rusinova at the opening of the Nadezhda Crisis Center for child victims of trafficking and violence. Mayor of Sofia Municipality Yordanka Fandakova, Deputy Minister of Justice Prof. Nikolay Prodanov, US Ambassador to Bulgaria HE participated in the event. There are 19 Crisis Centers in Bulgaria with about 120 users, Deputy Minister Rusinova announced. "Everything we can do preventatively with children and families has a huge role to play," she stressed. The Deputy Minister reminded that under the Operational Program “Human Resources Development” an operation “Integrated Actions for Sustainable Urban Development” with a budget of BGN 18 million is being implemented. street, shelters and crisis centers. The crisis center is unique in that it is located in an apartment block. In this way, children victims of trafficking or violence will feel the support of their neighbors. A nearby school will help them to return to their usual way of life. "I believe that the children who will come will find their home, but I hope that they will be here for a short time and will be able to quickly return to their usual family environment," said Rusinova.
The Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Yordanka Fandakova, reminded that a lot of efforts have been made in Sofia to create a real home for many children without parents. She believes it is important to support children who have had a family but have been abused or have been trafficked. Fandakova thanked the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy for their support in these efforts.
