“The main priority in the work of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy in the coming months will be limiting the negative impacts on the labour market and improving the living standards of the population and vulnerable groups.” This was said by the caretaker Deputy Prime Minister of Social Policies and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Lazar Lazarov during the acceptance of the post by Minister Georgi Gyokov.

“Our actions will be aimed at improving policies to increase the level of employment with a focus on the untapped resource of the labour market - inactive people. We will strive for consistency and upgrading of the implemented policies and measures in this area,” Minister Lazarov said.

As a priority in his forthcoming work, he also pointed to increasing control over compliance with labour legislation, as well as improving the social assistance system. “We will make efforts to build on the targeted support to vulnerable citizens - the elderly, people with disabilities and families with children,” Lazar Lazarov underscored.

As an important part of the upcoming work of the ministry he pointed to the implementation of the commitments related to the implementation of the reforms and measures under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. “We will continue to develop all policies in dialogue and cooperation with all social partners,” Minister Lazar Lazarov added.

“The challenges in social policy are serious; it is difficult to make progress. We have made important steps - I expect the caretaker government to continue in the same direction in support of the Bulgarian citizens”, Georgi Gyokov said. He stressed that over the past seven months the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy has achieved high results in its work and has coped with the challenges of the complex political and health environment.
