At a forum in Shumen, organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, employers in North-Eastern Bulgaria learned about the opportunities for investment in the development of the labor market, in innovation and training and qualification of the workforce, so that it meets the expectations of business, with the participation of the Prime Minister Academician Nikolay Denkov.
About 47,000 workers and employees in the districts of Shumen, Varna, Dobrich, Razgrad and Targovishte were included in employment during the past program period thanks to the opportunities for investments in preserving and securing new jobs. "During the past program period, nearly 4,400 employers from North-Eastern Bulgaria have benefited from BGN 120 million provided by European funds and the state budget for the development of the labor market", noted the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivanka Shalapatova at the forum "Opportunities for the labor market in North-Eastern Bulgaria".
Minister Shalapatova announced that for the adaptation of the workforce to the new requirements of the labor market for the period 2023-2027, a significant financial resource of over BGN 1 billion has been planned for the entire country. The funds are provided under the National Plan for the Promotion of Employment, the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience and the "Human Resources Development" Program.
"Part of the schemes are already open for applications and employers, including from the five regions in North-Eastern Bulgaria, can take advantage of the opportunities to finance employment and training. We rely on their activity, because they are the ones who know best what qualities the workforce should have in order to meet the new realities of the labor market," appeals Ivanka Shalapatova.
The acting executive director of the Employment Agency (EA) Milena Georgieva presented to the participants the new opportunities for employers in the region for the development of the labor market and the adaptation of the workforce, foreseen in the current program period under the Human Resources Development Program, the Plan for recovery and Resilience and the National Employment Promotion Plan 2023. She also introduced them to the services that the EA team provides for them. A special interest among employers caused the organization of "Employer's Day" - a mini-exchange where a specific employer meets with job seekers, most often on site at the enterprise.
The event was hosted by the regional governor of the Shumen region, Prof. Dobromir Dobrev. The forum was honored by the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Her Excellency Aylin Sekizkök, representatives of social partners, employers.
