MINISTER DENITSA SACHEVA: WE NEED TO INVEST IN ETHICAL USE OF TECHOLOGY

Masterclass

“Technological development and the development of human values should go hand in hand. Technology- and people-related professions are the two main tendencies of the future”. This was stated by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva during the MASTERLASS WORK 4.0 at the G. S. Rakovski Military Academy.

In her words, over the next ten years professions such as teachers, nurses, health workers, high-tech specialists in technology and mechatronics will certainly be sought in Bulgaria. “We should not have to worry about whether the machines will displace people. Technology creates new opportunities and challenges that save time and money. However, serious digital inequalities are also being created. Being informed doesn't necessarily make us more literate and educated. Often, the skills for proper handling of information are lacking and we fail to use it in a way to improve our lives”, Sacheva explained.

According to her, we should invest in ethics and philosophy in addition to technology education. “If we create a digital but unethical world, I don't think we would benefit from it”, the minister said, adding that a large proportion of the people who need digital skills are out of school age. “In the next programming period of Human Resources Development Operational Programme, almost BGN 500 million is expected to be invested for training in digital competences and skills”, Denitsa Sacheva added.
