The Directive on Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions was the topic of discussion of the second meeting of the Working Party on Social Questions of the Council of the EU within the Bulgarian Presidency. The directive– a new initiative of the European Commission– falls within the context of the European Pillar of Social Rights.
The directive aims to guarantee workers’ rights and prevent their violation by obliging the employer to inform employees on their employment rights in writing. This measurement aims to increase labour market transparency and to respond to the current forms of employment that generate new realities of work such as teleworking, temporary agency work, freelance employment contracts, voucher-based work, etc.
