Minister of Labour and Social Policy Biser Petkovcongratulated all employees of the General Labour Inspectorate on the occasion of the 110th anniversary since the establishment of the institution. "Today the General Labour Inspectorate EA is a modern and authoritative institution. It has highly qualified staff and modern IT systems that allow effective control over the observance of labour law," Minister Petkov noted in his speech. He drew attention to the responsible role of the inspectorate in improving working conditions in Bulgaria. The Minister pointed out that the agency is a fully-fledged participant in the European Labour Inspection Network and part of the European platform against undeclared work.
The institution is tasked with ensuring that workers' employment and social rights are respected. Over recent years, as a result of controls, there has been a lasting trend of improving working conditions at Bulgarian enterprises, reducing the level of occupationalincidents at the workplace and actively supporting employers for the proper and adequate implementation of the labour legislation, Minister Petkov said.
Earlier during the day, he visited the Sofia Labour Inspectorate, which is the largest unit within the system. Minister Petkov wished the employees a high level of professional self-esteem, job satisfaction and future success. He stressed that the Labour Inspectorate has always been an excellent school for staff who become successful in other institutions too and expressed the hope that GLI will continue to be a preferred workplace for young professionals.
