Within the project "Progress to equality: national effective and innovative practices to prevent and combat discrimination" under the Progress Programme of the European Union, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy organized and held its third national seminar for raising awareness of staff in the field of education - school counselors and school psychologists - on issues related to overcoming discrimination. It was held in Blagoevgrad on 15 and 16 June 2010 and covered more than 50 representatives. In the modular program of the seminar was included presentations on basic concepts and mechanisms for protection against discrimination as well as information on many related issues. Among the main themes of lecture modules was the theme on the roots of the phenomenon of discrimination - the role of stereotypes and prejudices, social distance and ethnic stereotypes. It was presented an explanatory lecture on the specifics of the Bulgarian legislation in the field of anti-discriminatory and on procedures implemented by the CPD related to the process of requests for information, mediation in agreement, and sanctions by administrative measures and penalties. It was presented as well the topic of the in-discriminatory situation in the school education system.
